Duck and Geese Program

The ducks and geese program takes place in an area at 3 hours drive from the international airport of Buenos Aires, right in the center of the province.

This area, sowed with cereals and surrounded by inlets and lagoons, is an important habitat for the 8 duck species and 2 geese species hunted over there.

Our lodge has 6 double-basis rooms, a big living room and all needed for a comfortable stay. During the hunt, all meals and beverages, also hard drinks, are included in the package, and they are first quality and generously served.

We use for our transportation last generation vans and 4x4 vehicles. For the exclusive hunt of ducks and geese we provide boots, waders, boats, decoys and all equipment required for these hunts. All this is included in the price.

The regular take per hunter is between 30 and 50 ducks per day, and 10 geese per day.

We receive all our hunters at the international airport, to assist them with guns customs clearance, and from there we drive them up to our lodge, which is close to big cities (40' drive) where bars and clubs can be visited sometime along their stay.

As regards to guns, you can bring up to 2 per person, if you previously send the corresponding data, MG hunting will manage the permits avoiding unnecessary delays at the airport (the permit costs US$ 100 per gun), and if you do not wish to bring your own firearms, we can lend you semiautomatic shotguns (12 and 20) at US$ 70 daily rent.

The only extras you will have in our program are: shells US$ 12 the box of 25 units; hunt license US$ 60 per day per hunter; phone-calls and tips.

Daily rate per hunter prices

  • Up to 50 ducks - US$ 700
  • Over 50 - US$ 700 (Exceeding 50 preys, US$ 5 per extra duck).
  • Over 100 up to 150 ducks - US$ 1000
  • Over 150 y 200 ducks - US$ 1100
  • Over 200 y 250 ducks - US$ 1250
  • Over 250 y 300 ducks - US$ 1500
  • Over 300 ducks - US$ 1750
  • Over 350 ducks - US$ 2000
  • Over 400 ducks - US$ 2500

The ducks hunting season extends from April 15 to August 1.

Partridges

This same hunting season applies to partridge shootings which are done in the same area of the ducks. Daily rate price per hunter: US$ 700 up to 15 partridges. Over 15 partridges, US$ 20 per extra bird.

Dove and Pigeon Program

Argentina is no doubt, one of the world's most important destinations to shoot doves and pigeons. This program offers the chance to hunt these birds with no limit and it is regular for hunters to shoot between 1000 and 1500 rounds per day.

Shooting starts early in the mornings, when birds come out of their sleeping places and fly towards the fields for feeding. Firing is done at these feeding points in the fields while they pass over, all along the morning.

At noon we stop to have lunch outdoors in the countryside, where you will get a superb service and taste our world-known beef and fine wines or ice-cold beer. After lunch, the hunt continues till late afternoon when we return to the lodge to enjoy a pleasant dinner and turn in for the next day out in the fields.

Every hunter will be accompanied by a bird-boy to reload the guns and give assistance during the whole the hunt. You will be frequently visited at your shooting spot by our hunting staff in charge, to see if you need any assistance and to provide you with ammunition. In the afternoon, also to offer you some snack.

Area

The shooting ground of this program is the Traslasierra Valley at the Province of Cordoba. Surrounded by high mountains, farmers grow sunflower, corn, peanuts, sorghum and others. This fact makes this area the ideal birds’ habitat to breed and nest. A paradise for doves and pigeons, that sometimes, becomes a real plague causing great losses.

Lodge

Our lodge, Las Araucarias, is located in San Javier, at the ridges of the Cordoba hills, at an altitude of 900 meters over the sea, and only 30 minutes away from the hunting grounds. This European-styled house, built around the 20th century, has all the comforts our guests may need, but maintaining its original charming architecture.

It has six large rooms for two, with private bath, a great dining room, and a lounge room where you may enjoy an after-dinner drink, while playing board games. In our three-hectare facility you will find a swimming-pool where, after a great day's hunt, you may enjoy a cool summer splash along with a snack. Only some minutes away, there is a unique nine-hole golf green and a tennis court, where those accompanying hunters may spend the day during their stay. There also are horses to ride to visit interesting points close to our lodge.

Transfers

Mercedes Benz vans carrying up to 13 passengers are used to make all the ground transfers. Hunts are done in rugged 4-Wheel Drive vehicles. We provide all transfers from and to airports, in Buenos Aires and Cordoba. Our hunters are at all times accompanied by someone of our staff, from their arrival to their departure.

Weather

Traslasierra Valley has its own microclimate with very stable with non-extreme weather conditions during all the year. In spring (Sep 21st to Dec 20th) the day starts with a temperature of around 18º C or 64ºF, reaching up to 25ºC or 77ºF at noon. In summer (Dec 21st to Mar 20th) the day starts with a temperature of around 25ºC or 77ºF reaching up to 35ºC / 95ºF at noon. In Fall (Mar 21st to Jun. 20th) the day starts with a temperature of around 13ºC or 56ºF reaching up to 20ºC / 68ºF at noon. In winter (Jun 21st to Sep 20th) the day starts with a temperature that can be as low as 5ºC or 41ºF, reaching up to 20ºC or 68ºF at noon.

These temperature conditions make our programs possible to make during all the year round. It must be taken into account that this area is very dry with scarce rain. Sometimes periods of over 7 month can pass by without a single drop of rain.

Season

Due to the number of birds that exist in this area and their permanent breeding, hunting season goes on all year round.

Guns, Ammunition and Regulations

Argentina has very simple regulations to enter guns temporarily. By doing some simple paperwork, you may bring along your own gun or, if you let us know some time in advance, you can leave the task up to us in order to avoid any delay at the airport.

It is not allowed to come into the country with a great deal of ammunition.

We have a range of guns for rent, if you do not wish to bring your own.

You will find from 12 and 20 gauge semi-automatic Beretta shotguns (301 / 303 / 391).

We will provide you with both national and international brand shells for cal. 20 gauge / 24 and 25 grams, cal. 12 gauge / 28 grams, cal. 16 gauge / 25 grams, cal. 28 gauge / 18grams, cal. 410 gauge / 11grams.

How to Get There

Argentina is a country which most major American and European airlines reach. There is a wide range of offers at low prices. Our international airport in Buenos Aires is Ministro Pistarini and in Cordoba, Pajas Blancas with direct incoming flights from Santiago de Chile and Miami.

If you wish to arrive in Cordoba, we will be waiting you to make your a transfer to our lodge. You may also want to arrive to Buenos Aires first, and then take a private flight (up to 18 passengers) from the same airport to Villa Dolores (1 hour 20 min.), which is only 15 minutes away from our lodge. This is very convenient for large groups.

Extra Day (Pigeons-only)

This program allows you to combine an extra day for a pigeon hunt. This is done on nearby fields when pigeons go for feeding. With the use of decoys located all around we manage to get very good results shooting a high number of rounds. The daily rate for this program is US$ 550 per hunter.

Prices

Daily rates include ground transfers, accommodation, meals and beverages, including hard drinks, and one bird-boy per hunter.
